How to Pray over Harsh Words

Topic: Harsh Words — When Someone’s Comment Stays With You

A woman shared that someone made a comment that stung.  It wasn’t just an acquaintance.  It was someone close to her.   She tried to brush it off, but it replayed in her mind all day.

The child’s saying:  “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me” is far from true.  As women, we are very in tune to the harsh words that are spoken to us.  They can hurt us and have quite an effect on us.

Emotions

She felt hurt.
Embarrassed.
Unsure of herself.

Seek God’s Word

She opened her Bible and read: Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.  Proverbs 4:23

She prayed and asked the Lord to protect her heart from words that weren’t true and words that were hurtful.

Personal Application

If someone’s harsh words have lingered in your mind longer than they should, let Scripture filter them.
