Bible Study Simplified – Easy Study Methods You Can Do

Bible Study Simplified -Methods you can do

Let’s be honest—when it comes to Bible Study methods, there are so many options out there that it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Sometimes, having too many choices makes us freeze and do nothing. And that’s certainly not the goal! Let’s look at one of the easy Bible Study methods that can be used.

Studying God’s Word isn’t meant to feel like a burden. It should be something we look forward to—a quiet, meaningful time with the Lord where He speaks directly to our hearts through Scripture.

Over the next couple of months, I’ll be sharing several how to tutorials for Bible Study methods—some are simple and take just 10 minutes, while others go deeper and could stretch into an hour (or more if you’re really diving in!).

We’ll start with the easiest ones and keep going. Feel free to choose whatever method resonates most with you. Here’s a beginning list of the methods we’ll review.

Some Easy Bible Study Methods We’ll Explore Together:

Some Other Bible Study Methods We’ll Explore:

  •  Word Studies
  •  Character Studies
  •  Book of the Bible Study
  • Inductive Bible Study

And we’ll add more as we go!

You may wish to try one for a while, and then switch it up! Bible Study can and should fit your life—not feel like another task on the to-do list.

Here’s a little personal example: A couple of weeks ago, my family was camping for ten days. Instead of packing a bunch of study tools, I brought one book by John MacArthur (which wasn’t technically a Bible Study, but it was Scripture-rich). Additionally, I had my Bible, a notebook,  and a pen—and that was enough for my Bible Study time for those 10 days.

Now that we’re back home, I’ve jumped into a more in-depth inductive study. I’ll share more on that later, but it’s a great example of how our Bible Study approach can shift depending on where we are or what’s happening around us.

I use to (before we moved a couple years ago) meet monthly with a lovely group of ladies to do Verse Mapping—one of my all-time favorite methods!

Not sure what to study?

Here are a few ideas to spark inspiration:

  • A specific topic (like forgiveness or love)
  • A character trait you want to develop
  • One meaningful word
  • A person in the Bible
  • A Book of the Bible
  • A Bible reading plan

Picking a study focus will help you choose a method and stick with it—without feeling lost or overwhelmed.

There are some fantastic Bible Study tools and books out there, and I’ll be reviewing a few of my favorites in upcoming posts. No need to rush out and buy a bunch of things.  You can take this journey slowly and purposefully.

Above all, let’s stay rooted in truth: God’s Word is His love letter to us. As believers, we’re called to grow in our understanding of Him and mature in our faith. That growth happens in part through daily quiet time—prayer, reflection, and opening our hearts to Scripture.

So yes, let’s listen to sound preaching, but let’s also dig into the Word personally. The Holy Spirit is our guide, and He’ll reveal truths in ways no man or woman’s book or study plan ever could.

If you haven’t had a chance yet, be sure to check out our first post on an easy Bible study method, Read, Write, Meditate and Pray (RWMP).  I hope you’ll dive in right in and give this Study Method a try.

If there’s a method or a book you’ve been wondering about, I’d love to hear from you! Ask away—whether it’s a question, a resource request, or just curiosity about a topic.
